Is a Breathwork Journey Right for YOU? Yes!........ Hear me out first

Updated: Jul 27

So, you’ve done a breathwork journey before: with so many people there you couldn’t possibly count.

The experience was beyond overwhelming. If you have a sensitive nervous system you were barely able to handle the energy in the room. There was so much loudness and pain in the room and you didn’t know what was going on

You had stuff coming through in your body and you didn’t know what to expect. It was scary, but thrilling, but scary and big.

Somebody came around at one point and that felt good. But then they were gone.

Then it finished – and sure, you’d felt something. It was nothing like you’ve experienced before.

You went home and completed your week and tried to put your experience into words, let it sink into your nervous system. But really, it was jarring.

And, even though you know there is probably medicine in that way of healing, it’s a lot to consider going back to.

I get it. I was a participant myself and I couldn’t handle it.

------------------------------------------------------------

In my experience as a teacher, facilitator, guide – modern day breathwork spaces shouldn’t exceed 12-14 people in the room.

Our nervous systems as a collective are constantly sitting in fight or flight mode (or freeze). They need safety, safety in the space, the amount of energy being subjected to them in the space, nurturing facilitators, and the least amount of chance of overwhelm.

There needs to be guidance around what the experience entails, consistent support during the breathwork and the MOST important aspect of a breathwork is the POST EXPERIENCE INTEGRATION. Do ‘they’ offer support after the breathwork when the real change is occurring and taking root and creating your new reality.

Are they trauma-informed and trauma-trained? Do they have practice in taking someone through a trauma cycle and ensuring it completes before you leave. Can they read into whether your body is at capacity and whether you need a bit more attention throughout the breathwork?

As a woman, and as someone who has been through quite a list of things that have created trauma in my body, it’s really important to find out these things before going to these large-scale hyped events.

Is it right for you? Are you able to connect to your body and feel safe in that? Are you able to support yourself with gentleness and compassion and not be in the mindset of forcing your trauma out of you or being addicted to catharsis. Can you arrive in a breathwork without any expectations and just allow your body to release or connect the way it needs. It ultimately holds the intelligence.

Each persons’ needs differ. And we need different types of spaces for breathwork

Please don’t leave breathwork for dust if you’ve had one of those experiences – it is way too good of a modality and healing tool.

COME BACK and COME HOME TO YOU.

Small group sessions and 1 on 1 available.
