What Is Embodied Counselling?

So much of what we carry isn’t stored in our heads - it’s stored in our bodies.

The knot in your stomach when something feels off. The tight chest that arrives with anxiety.The way your jaw clenches when you hold back your truth.

These are more than just sensations. They’re messages. They’re stories the body is holding often long after the mind has moved on.

Embodied counselling is a therapeutic space where those stories finally get to be heard. Instead of talking about what’s happening, we bring attention to where it lives inside you. It’s real, grounded, and often deeply liberating work.

This isn’t about “fixing” yourself. It’s about coming home to what’s already here and letting your body guide the way forward.



Why Talk Alone Isn’t Always Enough

Talk therapy can be powerful. But for many people, it only reaches part of the picture. We can explain, analyse, and understand a feeling, yet still feel stuck living inside it.

That’s because emotions and trauma aren’t just mental.

They live in the nervous system, in breath, in posture, in how we brace against the world.

Embodied counselling works with those places directly.

When the body is met, real change happens - not just in how you think, but in how you feel and move through life.



What a Session Can Look Like

Every session is different, because every body is different.

We might work with:

  • Breath — to regulate your nervous system and bring awareness to what’s present beneath the surface.

  • Sensation — tracking where feelings live in the body, so they can finally be acknowledged.

  • Movement or grounding — gentle or strong, depending on what your body needs.

  • Expression — allowing what’s been held in to move through you, safely.


This isn’t about performance. You don’t need to “know how” to do anything. You simply show up, as you are and together we listen to your body’s intelligence.



What Can Shift

This work is for people who are tired of talking around the same edges.

Who feel something in their body that words can’t quite touch.

Who want to move from just coping to actually feeling free inside their skin.

Through embodied counselling, you may experience:

  • A deeper sense of safety in your body

  • More capacity to feel and express emotions without getting stuck in them

  • Release of stored tension, trauma, or old protective patterns

  • A clearer connection to yourself and your boundaries

  • A way back to trust — in your body, in your breath, in your life
